Club Overview

Bayer 04 Leverkusen is a Bundesliga club based in Leverkusen, playing at the BayArena, with a capacity of around 30,210.

Seating Guide

The North stand fills with a wave of red-and-black scarves, home to the club’s most passionate supporters.

Tickets

The safest way to buy tickets is directly through the club’s official website. Popular matches tend to sell out quickly, so check availability as soon as your travel dates are set.

This site is mainly in German — here's how to get through it

  1. On the ticket site, click your desired match date.
  2. Choose a seating zone — pricing for each zone is shown directly on the site.
  3. Sign up or log in, then pick your seat and complete the payment.
  4. Some clubs check ID against the buyer's name at entry, so bring your passport along with the ticket.

Tip: in Chrome, right-click the page and choose "Translate to English" to read button labels instantly.

💡 Insider Tips

🚌 Transport

From Leverkusen Mitte station (served by RE1, RE5, and S6), it’s about a 20-minute walk to the stadium. Match ticket holders ride the VRS and VRR public transit networks for free. From Cologne Hauptbahnhof, a train reaches Leverkusen Mitte in around 14 minutes, running every 15 minutes.

🏨 Accommodation

Both the Lindner Hotel Leverkusen BayArena and The Curve Hotel BayArena sit right next to the stadium. Leoso Hotel, Ibis Budget Cologne Leverkusen, and Hotel am Stadion are all within 1.6km.

🎟️ Tickets

Season-ticket holders and long-term members get first access, with any remaining tickets going to general sale (freier Verkauf). Since the 2024/25 season, sales run exclusively through the online shop. Standing tickets (Nordkurve) are reserved for members and season-ticket holders, making them effectively unavailable to non-members through official channels. The most realistic route for international visitors is P1 Travel, Bayer 04’s official international partner, which offers business-club tickets and hospitality packages.

🗺️ Tourism Tie-in

A 90-minute stadium tour (€10 for adults, covering the locker room, players’ tunnel, press room, and dugouts) is available. Cologne Cathedral is just 14–34 minutes away by train, making it an easy day-trip pairing.

🎁 Club Perks

Cha Bum-kun joined from Eintracht Frankfurt in 1983 and racked up 215 appearances and 63 goals through 1989. In the 1987-88 UEFA Cup final against Espanyol, after a 0-3 away first-leg loss, he scored a dramatic late header in the home second leg to send the tie to extra time and penalties, which the club won — still, to this day, Bayer Leverkusen’s only European trophy. That win made Cha the ninth player ever to win the UEFA Cup with two different clubs (Frankfurt and Leverkusen). Three decades later, in 2013, Son Heung-min joined Leverkusen for what was then a club-record transfer fee, scoring 21 goals in 62 appearances from 2013 to 2015 before leaving for Tottenham for €30 million in 2015. Bayer 04’s own website describes Son as having “followed in Cha’s footsteps” by signing for the club.

💡 Insider Tips

Payment inside the stadium is mostly card and contactless (a currywurst runs about €4.60). Home supporters (the Ultras) gather in the Nordkurve; security checks tend to be fairly strict, so allow extra time to get in.
