Cheer Culture

Known as the self-proclaimed “Carnival Club”, every goal is met with the German carnival anthem “Narrhallamarsch”, and local Rheinhessen wine is served alongside beer on matchday.

🚌 Transport

From Mainz Hauptbahnhof, take tram 53 (about 16 minutes) or a train to Bretzenheim/Hochschule Mainz station (about 9 minutes). Your match ticket doubles as a free transit ticket on matchday, and free shuttle buses also run from the main station.

🏨 Accommodation

The stadium sits in the residential Bretzenheim district with no confirmed walkable hotels, so it’s safer to stay near the main station or old town (Leonardo Hotel Mainz, IntercityHotel Mainz, etc.) and take public transit.

Members get priority sale, followed by general sale; individual match tickets can generally be tried through the official online shop (mainz05.de/tickets) throughout the season. Inquiries: 06131 375500.

🗺️ Tourism Tie-in

A stadium tour costs €6 (book by email, runs from 9am on non-matchdays). Downtown, the Gutenberg Museum — home to an original Gutenberg Bible and the world’s largest printing-history collection — along with the Romanesque Mainz Cathedral (Dom St. Martin) and St. Stephan’s Church (famous for its Chagall stained glass) are all walkable.

Lee Jae-sung transferred from Holstein Kiel to Mainz in summer 2021 and has become a key player. As of February 2026 he had made 159 appearances with 28 goals and 23 assists for the club, and signed a contract extension through June 2028 — he’s still playing there today.
