Gangwon’s Hwang Moon-ki Nears Return
Hwang Moon-ki (29, Gangwon FC), the right back named to the 2024 K League 1 Best XI, is preparing for his comeback as his alternative military service ends on October 5. Using saved-up leave, Hwang joined the team about a month ago and has been training with the squad. Head coach Chung Kyung-ho said Hwang picked up a knock in a practice match and is focusing on recovery, calling him a diligent and highly capable player. Hwang said he missed Gangwon every single day and vowed to repay the love he received from the club, adding that he will give it everything he has. He recorded 2 goals and 7 assists in 36 league games in 2024. Fifth-place Gangwon (43 points) is chasing a third straight Final A berth.
