Overview

Pohang Steelers is a K League 1 professional football club based in Pohang. Their home stadium is Pohang Steel Yard. Founded in 1973, they are Korea’s oldest professional football club and a foundational part of K League history.

Seating Guide

With no running track, this stadium is known as one of the closest to the pitch in the K League. Since the 2015 season, the S section has been home supporters’ seating and the N section the away section — the two swapped places. A major 2025–2026 renovation significantly expanded both the supporting zone (N stand) and the premium seats (W stand), and the S section now has private lounges for up to 7 people.

Cheering Culture

As with K League football generally, Pohang Steelers’s fans behind the goal (the supporters’ end) lead drum-driven chants and flag-waving. First-time foreign visitors can easily join in just by following the rhythm.

🚌 Getting Around

From Pohang Station, it’s about a 60-minute bus ride (route 305, etc.), or about a 30-minute walk across the POSCO Bridge. Buses get very crowded after the game.

🗺️ City Pass Bundling

A natural walking route connects the free, no-reservation-needed “Spacewalk” skywalk, Yeongildae Beach (cafes, restaurants, breweries), and Jukdo Market for a day trip.

💡 Insider Tips

Opened in 1990, this is Korea’s first soccer-specific stadium, with the crowd sitting only about 4 meters from the pitch — among the closest in the country. The north side is the core supporters’ section (most passionate atmosphere), the east side has the best views, the south side is for away fans, and the west side is VIP/media. After a recent renovation, the stadium reopened on July 25, 2026 with a match against Jeonbuk.
