Moriyasu addresses injuries and possible call-ups
On September 27, 2026, ahead of Japan’s friendly against Venezuela on September 28, head coach Moriyasu Hajime told reporters in Hiroshima that injuries were affecting his squad and that possible additional call‑ups were under consideration. He said defender Takehiro Tomiyasu withdrew with an injury, Ando Tomoya has been unable to join due to a back issue, and Itakura Ko has been kept out of full training with a left‑ankle problem.
