Daejeon’s Yu Gang-hyun Shines as Winger
Daejeon Hana Citizen came from behind to beat FC Anyang 3-2 at Daejeon World Cup Stadium on the 9th in Round 28 of the Hana Bank K League 1, extending their home winning streak to four games. With Daejeon clinging to a 3-2 lead late in the match, manager Hwang Sun-hong gambled by bringing on two forwards instead of a defender, giving striker Yu Gang-hyun a chance to play on the right wing. “We’re short on players who can play out wide, so I’d been preparing for this in training,” Yu said. “Being able to play multiple positions is a good thing.” Yu, who made his AFC Champions League debut with Pohang years ago, added, “If I get to play in the ACL again after about ten years, it’ll be a new opportunity” — expressing anticipation for Daejeon’s upcoming run in the AFC Champions League Elite.
