Club Overview

The Minnesota Twins were founded in 1901 as the Washington Senators and took their current name after relocating to Minneapolis in 1961. The club has won three World Series titles, in 1924, 1987, and 1991.

The Minnesota Twins are an MLB American League (Central Division) team based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Their home, Target Field, holds 38,544 fans.

Cheer Culture

Ahead of the 1987 American League Championship Series, local newspaper the Star Tribune handed out a white handkerchief called the ‘Homer Hanky’ — 200,000 of them sold out almost instantly, becoming a symbol of the Twins’ first World Series title that year. When the team won it all again in 1991, a Metrodome full of fans waved the hanky in unison, and a new version is still released for every postseason run today. A plaza collection of bronze statues honoring the franchise’s Gold Glove winners is a popular photo spot for fans.

🚌 Getting Around

Metro Blue and Green lines stop directly at Target Field station (500 trains daily). The Blue Line also connects to the airport and Mall of America.

🏨 Lodging

The Lofton Hotel (0.33 miles), Hampton Inn & Suites (0.35 miles, connected by an indoor passage so you can stay dry), and Element Minneapolis Downtown (right next to the ballpark) are all within walking distance.

SeatGeek is the official resale marketplace. The 2025 season had only a single sellout (July 11 vs. the Pirates), so tickets are generally easy to get.

💡 Insider Tips

Bags under 16x16x8 inches (single compartment) are allowed regardless of transparency, but backpacks aren’t allowed at all, regardless of size. Fried cheese curds, Kramarczuk’s sausages, and Izzy’s ice cream are popular.
