Encarnacion-Strand heroics

Visiting Baltimore rallied in St. Louis for an 8-7 comeback on Aug. 26. Christian Encarnacion-Strand delivered a go-ahead double in the ninth after Leody Taveras earlier launched a three-run homer; Dylan Beavers added an RBI single. Jackson Holliday saved a run with a late grab as Andrew Kittredge closed it out.

Lukes’ three-run blast

Nathan Lukes supplied the big blow as Toronto blanked Kansas City, 3-0, on Aug. 26. Lukes crushed a three-run homer to break a scoreless game, and the Blue Jays’ bullpen preserved the shutout. The bullpen’s combined effort kept Kansas City off the board while Toronto collected the necessary offense.

Turang powers Brewers

Milwaukee roughed up the Mets in an 8-1 win on Aug. 26, fueled by Brice Turang’s three-run homer and a four-run second inning. The Brewers strung multiple hits that chased early runs, and the bullpen closed it out with Bryse Wilson finishing the ninth. Turang’s long ball provided the decisive margin.

Lawlar, Rodríguez deliver

Arizona earned a 2-0 win over Chicago on Aug. 26 as Jordan Lawlar’s solo homer gave the D-backs the lead and Eduardo Rodríguez dominated with seven scoreless innings and nine strikeouts. Juan Morillo worked the ninth for the save in a low-scoring game decided by a strong starting outing and timely long ball.

Bellinger sparks Yankees

New York broke a tie with a four-run seventh and beat Houston 9-3 on Aug. 26. Cody Bellinger’s go-ahead two-run double ignited the rally; Spencer Jones and Jazz Chisholm Jr. added run-scoring hits and Luis García Jr. later homered for insurance. Tim Hill recorded the final outs to seal the Yankees’ win.

Gusto gets first Marlins win

Ryan Gusto picked up his first win as a Marlin in Miami’s 4-0 victory over Boston on Aug. 26. Gusto tossed 5 2/3 scoreless innings and starter-turned-reliever Janson Junk and the bullpen preserved the shutout. Miami provided late insurance and the staff limited Boston to five hits.

Peralta’s six-scoreless gem

Freddy Peralta fired six scoreless innings to earn his first win for Tampa Bay in a 3-0 victory at Detroit on Aug. 26. Peralta allowed two hits with four strikeouts, and relievers Kevin Kelly and Tyler Wells combined to close out the shutout. Tampa Bay’s timely scoring provided the margin.
