The center-field “Home Run Apple” is an 18-foot hydraulic apple sculpture that rises out of a top hat after every home run — the successor to the 9-foot apple at the old Shea Stadium.

The team colors (blue inherited from the Brooklyn Dodgers, orange from the New York Giants) carry the history of New York baseball, and the 1961 fight song “Meet the Mets,” the 7th-inning Sicilian tune “Lazy Mary,” and Billy Joel’s “Piano Man” mid-8th are beloved fan traditions.

💡 Insider Tips
🚌 Getting Around
Subway line 7’s Mets-Willets Point station connects directly. On weeknight games, a “7 Diamond Express” cuts 7 stops off the ride from Midtown, and from LaGuardia Airport, bus Q48 gets you there in about 21 minutes — noticeably better airport access than Yankee Stadium.
🎟️ Tickets
Ticketmaster is the official channel, with StubHub, SeatGeek, and VividSeats all used fairly evenly for resale. The 2025 season saw 19 sellouts and a franchise-record 3.18 million total attendance — demand is high.
🗺️ City Pass Bundling
The New York CityPASS doesn’t include a Citi Field tour, but the stadium sits inside Flushing Meadows Corona Park alongside the USTA National Tennis Center (home of the US Open), the Unisphere (a symbol of the 1964 World’s Fair), and the Queens Museum — all walkable together.
💡 Insider Tips
Backpacks are generally banned (fully clear ones are an exception), but wallets, totes, and messenger bags are fine as long as they’re under 16x16x8 inches. Shake Shack is the most popular concession, but the line gets long, so buy early in the game.
