Cheer Culture
Elche’s nickname ‘Franjiverdes’ (green-striped ones) originated with early coach Anton Fivber’s idea to add a green stripe to what had been a plain white shirt. The heartbreak of losing the 1969 Copa del Generalísimo final to Athletic Bilbao remains, over 50 years later, the proudest story passed down from grandparents to grandchildren among the fans who fill the Martínez Valero.
