LG storms back to win 5th straight

Ko Woo-suk saves in KBO return after 1,078 days
LG closer Ko Woo-suk returned to a KBO mound for the first time in 1,078 days during the September 4 game against Samsung and closed it out with a save. SSG’s Avila throws franchise’s first shutout
SSG starter Pedro Avila pitched a complete-game shutout against Doosan at Munhak Stadium in Incheon on September 4. Throwing 101 pitches, Avila allowed just two hits and one walk while striking out five, completely silencing Doosan’s lineup. It marked the first shutout in the history of the SSG Landers, who were founded in 2021. Avila, who is 5-1 with a 1.40 ERA in nine starts this season, said after the game that he hopes to play in Korea for at least two more years. Final score: 4-0.

KIA walks off KT in extra-inning thriller

NC beats Kiwoom for 6th straight win
NC defeated Kiwoom 6-1 at Gocheok Sky Dome on September 4, extending its winning streak to six games. NC’s run began on August 27 with a 13-3 rout of LG, followed by consecutive wins over Hanwha and KIA. On the same day, Doosan fell to SSG 0-4 to slide into a four-game losing streak, and as NC kept piling up wins, the gap between fifth-place Doosan (61-56-4) and sixth-place NC (54-58-2) narrowed to 4.5 games. It adds a new variable to the fight for the final postseason spot down the stretch.
