Samsung storms back with 5-run 8th

The Samsung Lions staged a dramatic comeback in the bottom of the 8th inning to beat the Lotte Giants at home in Daegu on the 15th. Samsung had led 2-0 before Na Seung-yeop tied it in the 6th and Victor Reyes gave Lotte the lead in the 7th, putting Samsung behind 2-3. But with two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the 8th, Lewin Diaz delivered a go-ahead single, and RBIs from Ryu Ji-hyeok and Lee Chang-yong added three more runs as Samsung pulled away to win 7-3. Having flirted with a third straight loss, Samsung kept its gap with league-leading KT at two games.

KT’s Ko Young-pyo dominant in 7th win

The KT Wiz crushed the Hanwha Eagles 13-3 on the road at Hanwha Life Ballpark in Daejeon on the 15th, riding a scoreless start from Ko Young-pyo and four home runs to their seventh straight win. Ko allowed no runs over six innings, picking up his 12th win of the season and fifth straight victory. Asian Games call-ups shake up KBO race

With players called up to Korea’s national team for the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, KBO clubs now face up to two weeks without key contributors during the tight pennant race. League-leading KT loses starter So Hyeong-jun and closer Park Yeong-hyeon, while second-place Samsung sees shortstop Lee Jae-hyun and outfielder Kim Ji-chan depart. KIA is without Kim Do-young and Park Jae-hyeon, LG loses Moon Bo-gyeong, and NC will play without shortstop Kim Ju-won. Managers say they will lean on backup players to cover the gaps, with some suggesting the fill-ins’ performance could reshape the postseason picture.

Kang Baek-ho starts at 1B for first time with Hanwha

Hanwha Eagles slugger Kang Baek-ho started at first base for the first time since joining the team in a trade last year, playing the position in the 15th’s game against KT in Daejeon. Manager Kim Kyung-moon said he moved Kang to first because regular first baseman Kim Tae-yeon has been struggling to hit due to a right thumb injury. It marked Kang’s first start at first base since May 2023, when he was still with KT. Kim said he plans to return the position to Kim Tae-yeon once he recovers.
