Choi Won-jun: “Reyes Is a Monster”
KT Wiz outfielder Choi Won-jun collected three hits against Samsung on October 7, reaching 204 hits to set a new KBO single-season record. The previous mark was 202, set by Lotte’s Victor Reyes in 2024. After the game, though, Choi admitted mixed feelings: “I’m happy, but with Reyes there, I don’t know how to feel. It’s meaningful, but it’s awkward.” That’s because Reyes also reached 203 hits the same day and is right on his heels. Choi praised his rival, saying “Reyes is a monster. He’s that great of a player,” and stressed the value of the hits title by noting that 200-hit seasons are rarer than 40-homer seasons. Choi has two games left, while Reyes has four.

Reyes Reaches 203 Hits but Isn’t Smiling
Lotte Giants outfielder Victor Reyes went 2-for-5 against KIA at Sajik on October 7, bringing his season total to 203 hits. His two infield singles pushed him past his own previous record of 202 hits, set in 2024. But KT’s Choi Won-jun reached 204 the same day, so the race for the hits title will go down to the wire. With Lotte losing 12-4 for their fourth straight defeat, Reyes was not celebrating. “My hits should be helping the team win,” he said, stressing that his hits leading to team wins and a better place in the standings matters far more than personal records, and he apologized to the fans. Lotte have four games remaining, which will decide how the hits race ends.
