Club Overview

Racing de Santander was founded in 1913. The club worked its way back up through the lower divisions to return to La Liga in the 2024-25 season.

Racing de Santander is a La Liga club based in Santander. Their home ground is El Sardinero, with a capacity of around 22,500.

Seating Guide

Opened in 1988 (the club itself dates to 1913), El Sardinero is made up of Tribuna (main), Preferencia (four sections), and Fondo. The stadium record attendance was 33,000, set in 1993.

Tickets

The safest way to buy tickets is directly through the club’s official website. Popular matches are often prioritized for season-ticket (abono) holders before general sale, so check availability as soon as your travel dates are set.

This site is mainly in Spanish — here's how to get through it

  1. On the ticket site, click your desired match date.
  2. Choose a seating zone — pricing for each zone is shown directly on the site.
  3. Sign up or log in, then pick your seat and complete the payment.
  4. Some clubs check ID against the buyer's name at entry, so bring your passport along with the ticket.

Tip: in Chrome, right-click the page and choose "Translate to English" to read button labels instantly.

Cheer Culture

A founding member of La Liga in 1913, Racing Santander is known for its ship-emblem crest — a nod to Santander’s maritime heritage — and its green-and-white ‘Verdiblancos’ kit. At the 22,000-seat El Sardinero, the ‘Cantabrian Derby’ against neighboring Oviedo and Gijón brings regional pride and fan intensity to its peak.

💡 Insider Tips

🚌 Getting Around

City TUS buses 1, 2, 3, 7, and 12 stop at “El Sardinero.” Train lines C2 and C3 also run nearby, and it’s about a 20-minute walk from Puerto Chico.

🏨 Lodging

With the stadium right beside El Sardinero beach, there are many beachfront walkable hotels like the Sercotel Hotel Palacio del Mar (from about €50–70 for a 3-star in the off-season).

🎟️ Tickets — note for the promotion year

Buying through official channels can be tricky for non-members, sometimes requiring a phone call (942282828) or email (taquillas@realracingclub.es); resale platforms (SeatPick, Viagogo, StubHub) are also an option. As this is the first season back in La Liga after 14 years, demand for 2026-27 may run higher than usual.

🗺️ Tourism Tie-in

With the stadium right by the beach, it naturally combines with a visit to El Sardinero.

💡 Insider Tips

A stadium tour (about 1 hour, including museum, dressing room, press room, and VR experience) is available. As the first season back up, the home atmosphere may be more charged than usual.
