Cheer Culture

On matchdays, fans marching through Vigo’s old town, Casco Vello, playing the traditional Galician bagpipe called the ‘gaita’ on their way to Balaídos is a scene unique to Celta. Sharing octopus dish ‘pulpo á feira’ and empanadas beforehand is just as essential a pre-match ritual for Celta fans as the songs themselves.

Buses 11, 16, and 7 stop near the stadium, with the closest stop, “Manuel de Castro,” a 2-minute walk away. Since October 2024, new shuttle routes named after the stadium’s stands (Río, Marcador, etc.) have expanded to cover key points around the city.

There are no genuinely walking-distance (under 5 minutes) hotels — even the closest ones are roughly 1.5km away, a 15–20 minute bus or taxi ride.
