SoftBank overwhelms Rakuten in 10-6 win
On August 2, the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks beat the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles 10-6 at Rakuten Mobile Stadium. Yu Maeda started and earned his ninth win of the season as SoftBank put up big innings in the fourth and sixth. Rakuten homered through Taira and Maccasker but could not overcome the deficit. Attendance was 23,246.
Seibu pulls away to beat Orix 5-1
On August 2, the Saitama Seibu Lions defeated the Orix Buffaloes 5-1 at Belluna Dome. Seibu built a three-run lead in the third and added two more in the eighth to seal the game. Takeuchi earned the win for his eighth victory of the season. Seibu had 12 hits to Orix’s six; attendance was 26,358.
