The Hanshin Tigers are a Central League club based in Nishinomiya, Hyogo, playing at Koshien Stadium — Japan’s oldest ballpark, opened in 1924. It holds about 47,800 fans and is also famous as the host of Japan’s national high school baseball tournament.
Besides infield and outfield seats, the stadium’s “Alps Seats” sit on elevated ground between infield and outfield. The ivy-covered outer walls are iconic, and the stadium has 24 gates.
Tickets
Official tickets are available through the club’s website or the e-plus ticketing partner. Popular matches often sell out early, so check availability in advance.
Famous for the fight song “Rokko Oroshi” (1936, NPB’s oldest fight song still in use), the pre-7th-inning “Lucky Seven” balloon release is Koshien’s signature tradition. Every player also has his own personal cheer song.

💡 Insider Tips
🚌 Getting Around
Hanshin Koshien station on the Hanshin Main Line is very close, about a 3-minute walk. It’s about 12–15 minutes from Osaka’s Umeda station, or roughly 25 minutes from Namba via the Midosuji Line to Umeda then the Hanshin Main Line. The stadium has no parking of its own, so public transport is essentially required.
🏨 Lodging
Hotel Hewitt Koshien is a 2-minute walk from Hanshin Koshien station, and Business Hotel Ritz Koshien (5 minutes from the station) is also close. Note that walkable hotel rates spike sharply during the high school baseball (Koshien tournament) season, so check the calendar before booking.
🎟️ Tickets
Official sales go through “Koshien Ticket” (甲チケ), plus Ticket Pia and Lawson Ticket. eplus also sells a special foreign-tourist ticket package (3rd-base Alps seats + goods) via its English interface. As with all NPB clubs, anti-scalping law requires purchaser identity verification, and photo ID may be requested at the gate.
🎁 Club Perks
The Koshien History Museum inside the stadium offers a QR-code smartphone guide in English, Chinese, and Korean. It’s said the museum added Korean support after Oh Seung-hwan joined the Tigers (2014–2016) — a nice detail for Korean fans.
💡 Insider Tips
Signature stadium food includes Koshien curry (horumon curry, black curry, and more), Koshien yakisoba, and jumbo yakitori-don. A major construction project running from November 2024 through March 2028 is extending the infield roof to cover the Alps stands — expect some sightline/circulation impact in certain sections during a visit.
