Severino’s 3 RBIs power Doosan
Doosan cruised to a 5-0 win over Kiwoom at Jamsil Stadium on the 10th. Severino hit a solo home run with an exit velocity of 180 km/h in the 2nd inning, then added a two-run single in the 3rd, accounting for most of Doosan’s runs on the day. Returning starter Wes Benjamin, back for the first time in 23 days, pitched four scoreless innings, and the bullpen of Kim Jung-woo, Takada Takuto, Kim Taek-yeon, Park Chi-guk and Lee Young-ha kept Kiwoom off the board the rest of the way. It was a welcome breakout for a Doosan lineup that had been struggling to score.

KT rout Lotte, Lee hits win No. 600
KT crushed Lotte 16-3 on the road at Sajik Stadium on the 10th. Starter Bae Je-sung pitched six scoreless innings, while the offense exploded for 13 runs across the 4th and 5th innings to put the game away early. Kim Min-hyuk went 3-for-3 with 3 RBIs and Sam Hilliard added a solo homer among his 3 hits and 2 RBIs as the lineup overwhelmed Lotte’s pitching. With the win, KT extended its streak to three games and reclaimed sole possession of first place after idle Samsung, while manager Lee Kang-chul picked up his 600th career win.

Avila’s historic gem lifts SSG
SSG beat Hanwha 4-3 at home in Incheon on the 10th. Starter Pedro Avila allowed just one run over six innings to earn his sixth win of the season, and his ERA through his first 10 KBO starts (1.41) stands as the second-lowest ever for a debuting pitcher in league history. After falling behind in the 3rd, SSG answered immediately on Ahn Jae-yeon’s first career triple and a Park Sung-han RBI, then tacked on two more in a bases-loaded 6th. Hanwha closed to 4-3 on Kim Tae-yeon’s two-run homer in the 7th, but closer Cho Byung-hyun shut the door in the 9th to seal the win.

NC edges KIA in extra innings
NC beat KIA 2-1 in 11 innings at Gwangju on the 10th. Starters Adam Oller and Riley Thompson each turned in seven strong innings in a tight pitchers’ duel, and KIA forced extras with a dramatic ninth-inning tie on a lucky infield hit from pinch hitter Na Sung-bum and a Kim Sun-bin RBI single. But NC scored the go-ahead run in the top of the 11th on a fielding mishap involving Cho Sang-woo, leaving KIA to stew over an eighth straight loss to NC. The absence of Kim Do-young, who suffered a broken nose the day before, was felt keenly.

Kim Do-young has nose surgery
KIA’s Kim Do-young underwent surgery to reset a broken nose after suffering the injury attempting a bunt in the September 9 game against NC. He’s expected to be discharged on the 11th, but playing again anytime soon looks unlikely, and his availability for the Asian Games squad is now uncertain. LG’s Moon Bo-kyung, also on the national team, has been scratched from the starting lineup for three straight games due to recurring back pain. If either player can’t handle defensive duty, it could complicate the national team’s infield plans.

Samsung’s Kim back after 54 days
Samsung infielder Kim Sang-jun returned to the first team after 54 days out with a torn ankle ligament suffered in July. The injury, a complete tear of the anterior talofibular ligament, had raised fears his season was over, but he played six Futures League games to quickly regain his form. Manager Park Jin-man said he was “surprised how fast he recovered, being young.” Kim, who can cover any infield position, is expected to give Samsung’s late-inning bench a boost as the team fights for first place.
