Diaz’s Slam, Won’s 7th Win
The Samsung Lions pounded out 20 hits for a 15-2 rout of the Kiwoom Heroes on August 27 at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. With two outs and the bases loaded in the top of the sixth, Lewin Diaz sealed the win with his 21st home run of the season, a grand slam, while Choi Hyoung-woo and Koo Ja-wook each drove in two runs to back the offense. Starter Won Tae-in pitched six innings, allowing six hits and two runs with seven strikeouts, to earn his seventh win of the season against six losses. The victory gave Samsung a winning series against Kiwoom and extended their winning streak to four games.

Jang’s Walk-Off Keeps KT Atop
The KT Wiz beat the Doosan Bears 5-4 on August 27 at Suwon KT Wiz Park on a walk-off home run from Jang Jin-hyuk in the bottom of the 11th inning. Doosan had forced extra innings with a three-run homer from Yang Eui-ji that tied the score 4-4 in the sixth, but KT’s leadoff hitter in the 11th, Jang Jin-hyuk, drove a pitch from reliever Lee Yong-chan over the right-field wall to end it. It was Jang’s first career walk-off homer, and KT’s second straight walk-off win. The result kept KT in first place, 0.5 games ahead of second-place Samsung.

Kim Ju-won’s 5-for-5 Powers NC
The NC Dinos snapped a four-game losing streak with a 13-3 rout of the LG Twins on August 27 at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul, collecting 20 hits. Leadoff hitter Kim Ju-won went 5-for-5, tying his career high for hits in a single game, while Kim Hwi-jip added four hits of his own. LG starter Park Si-won was pulled before completing the second inning after allowing an early flurry of runs, and the Twins later swapped out several regulars as the game got out of hand. The loss dropped LG to fourth place in the standings.

SSG’s 17 Hits Complete Sweep
The SSG Landers pounded out 17 hits in a 13-6 win over the Hanwha Eagles on August 27 at Incheon SSG Landers Field, completing a three-game midweek sweep. It was SSG’s first series sweep in 126 days, since a three-game set against Samsung in April. An Sang-hyeon drove in four runs with two hits, including a home run, while Jeon Ui-san added three RBIs with two hits and a homer of his own. Starter Kim Geon-woo allowed four early runs but earned the win with the offense’s support. Every SSG starter in the lineup recorded a hit, the first time that had happened this season.
