Kim Do-yeong’s youngest-40-HR bid ends
KIA Tigers star Kim Do-yeong’s bid to become the youngest player in KBO history to hit 40 home runs in a season has officially ended. After hitting his 39th homer against Lotte on August 26, he went six straight games without a home run, falling short of the late Lee Seung-yeop’s record of 22 years, 11 months and 5 days. Over that stretch pitchers walked him nine times, including three intentional walks. “It was a lot of stress,” Kim said after the chase ended, adding that he still intends to keep pursuing 40 home runs this season.
