On September 1 the Yomiuri Giants beat the Yokohama DeNA BayStars 4-3. DeNA opened the scoring, including a fifth-inning homer by Watari, but the Giants rallied late and produced the decisive run in the ninth. Raidel Martínez earned the win as Yomiuri’s offense pushed across the game-winner.

Sato’s 31st homer sparks big win for Hanshin
Hanshin defeated the Tokyo Yakult Swallows 6-2. Teruaki Sato supplied a two-run homer — his league-leading 31st — in the sixth, and Koji Chikamoto added a three-run shot in the seventh to pull away. Starter Haruto Takahashi worked deep into the game as Hanshin stretched its winning streak.

Carp score five in the 7th to down Dragons
Hiroshima erased the Chunichi Dragons 5-1 thanks to a five-run uprising in the seventh inning. Hiroki Tokoda picked up the win as the Carp’s offense produced a decisive burst that Chunichi could not overcome, despite a solo homer by Tanaka in the eighth.

Imagawa’s fourth homer lifts Nippon-Ham in a 2-1 game
The Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters edged the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks 2-1. Yuma Imagawa tied the game with a solo home run off Moinelo in the second, and the pitching staff held the line the rest of the way. Mizuki Hori earned the win and Yanagawa recorded the save in the tight contest.

Muneyama’s three-run blast fuels Rakuten’s 5-1 win
The Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles beat the Orix Buffaloes 5-1. Rui Muneyama launched a three-run homer to put Rakuten ahead, and starter Tatsuki Ito turned in six shutout innings to secure the victory. Rakuten’s offense and pitching combined to snap the losing streak.

Takano strong in start as Lotte hangs on 1-0
