Starter Avila was dominant, allowing just four hits over seven scoreless innings to pick up his fourth win of the season. Han Yu-seom and Madris connected for back-to-back home runs in the sixth inning to seal the win. Öller takes sole lead in wins as KIA edges Doosan
The KIA Tigers defeated the Doosan Bears 2-1 on August 16 at Gwangju-KIA Champions Field. Starter Öller threw seven innings on 85 pitches and allowed just one run to earn his 11th win of the season, taking sole possession of the league lead in wins. Doosan starter Kwak Bin matched him with seven innings and two runs (one earned) in a tight pitchers’ duel, but KIA held on as Jeon Sang-hyun and Lee Eui-ri combined to protect the one-run lead over the eighth and ninth innings.

Ahn Hyun-min’s homer keeps KT atop the standings
The KT Wiz rallied to beat the Kiwoom Heroes 6-2 on August 16 at Suwon KT Wiz Park. Ahn Hyun-min led off the bottom of the seventh with a solo home run that turned the momentum, finishing the day 1-for-5 with the homer and two RBIs. The win kept KT in first place at 62-2-39, and with second-place Samsung’s game rained out, KT’s lead over the Lions grew to a full game.
